4 Things to Know Before You Make Your First Peel

Are you tired of impurities, fine lines, and other brown spots? Good news, we have THE solution for your face to find a baby's skin. The peel, of course! But first, you have to prepare the ground. Here's what dermatologists would like you to know before your first peel.

The peel (this cosmetic operation consisting of removing the superficial layers of the skin) is used to remove small wrinkles and remove brown spots or acne without using a blackhead eliminator. Indeed, the process involves removing the epidermis (the outer layer of the skin, in contact with the outside) to regenerate the cells.

There are different types of peels and several ways to proceed. In any case, it is not a trivial gesture and for best results, it is better to prepare the ground before carrying out a peel. So here's what dermatologists would like you to know before finding a baby's skin.

Just before a peel: you rest your skin
It is recommended to stop taking retinol (one of the three forms of vitamin A, to stimulate the production of melanin and promote hydration of the skin), to follow a treatment against acne or any other drug to treat skin problems, seven days before the peel. Indeed, it avoids irritating the epidermis which will already be very solicited during the process.

The day of peeling: we say goodbye to makeup
On D-Day, make sure your face is clean and free of makeup. There must be no sebum or residue of oil, cream or powder, which may slow down the effect of the peel.

It is recalled that the products used to make the peel (based on phenol, glycolic acid or fruit ...) will penetrate the pores of the skin in order to eliminate the superficial cells thereof. It is therefore not necessary that a filter, such as makeup, interferes between the two. This risk is even greater when the pores are dilated because oily or powdery excesses are even easier to obstruct these small cavities. And the peeling, if it wants to be optimal, hates intrusions! So no makeup that day.

Just after a peel: we hydrate
Depending on the type of peel chosen, tingling and redness may appear on the skin. No worries, it's normal, say the dermatologists. The skin is drier than usual, so be sure to moisturize day and night.

To do this, these specialists in white coats recommend including sunscreen. Yes, it may seem surprising but ultimately, not that much. Indeed, your fresh skin needs to be protected from external aggressions and especially from UV rays. To avoid causing burns or hyperpigmentation (spots), apply a coat of sunscreen for a few days.

But, do not spread any! Mineral creams are excellent after a peel and therefore recommended by dermatologists. Indeed, they do not clog the pores of the skin but strive only to protect the latter from UV rays.
